About Me

Soo-yean Oh began her music studies at the age of five, and won several regional competitions. She was awarded the dean's scholarship for 4 years at Chung-Ang University, Seoul, Korea to study violin performance with the professor Min-Jae Choi. She received B.A. degree in music performance from Chung-Ang University, and played Chung-Ang Orchestra as a concert master. (Minor: Piano performance)

She graduated with the honor of the valedictorian at the university’s music department. In USA, she studied both music education and music performance at the University of Minnesota with Professor Young-Nam Kim and participated in University of Minnesota Symphony under the Conductor Akira Mori.

She is currently a Strings teacher at Seattle Christian Schools, and she also taught communities in school of Puyallup school district, Pacific Lutheran School and Pierce college as a private instructor. she is a member of Yakima symphony, Tacoma Opera Orchestra, and she also has been playing with Tacoma Symphony, Federal Way Symphony and East side Ballet company, Seattle Gilbert and Sullivan Society, Evergreen city Ballet. She also served on the staff of the Tacoma Youth Symphony Association as a violin coach. She is also involved with many great musicians playing music of all genres from traditional classical to Broadway, Jazz and popular music.
