Lessons With

Mezzo-Soprano, Heidi Vanderford, has performed with over twenty opera companies and orchestras including Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Washington National Opera, New Orleans Opera and New York City Opera. Local performances include debuts with Whatcom Symphony, Federal Way Symphony, Northwest Opera in the Schools and the Tacoma Concert Band.

Her favorite operatic role is Carmen and Ms. Vanderford has traveled extensively in Spain to study flamenco and classical vocal music for voice and guitar. After living for one year in Madrid she is back and eager to grow her piano and voice studio to share the joys of making music with all ages and helping her students become more confident and secure with their musical goals.

From 2010 to 2014 she has been directing musicals at Coe Musical Theater, Ballard High School and directing a choir at Whittier Elementary School. During this time she also began teaching voice and piano lessons alongside her performing engagements and has loved pairing the two together. Her students are eager to improve so they can enter festivals, take auditions, join choirs or simply improve as a musician for their own personal goals. It would be a pleasure to welcome new students to the roster and work together to create meaningful performances.

One of the biggest thrills in Ms. Vanderford’s career was singing with Placido Domingo at both Washington National Opera and the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. A recent unique performing opportunity was a recording session with Macklemore at their Seattle studios. There is never a dull moment in the life of a performing artist!
