About Ricardo

I have been teaching for many years, and have enjoyed working with the fine, talented young musicians that have come to my studio. Many of them have gone on to study music as a career at colleges and conservatories across the country. My goal with teaching is to prepare talented students to win auditions into college, win scholarship awards, and to prepare them for entry into the professional world of orchestral playing. Some of my students have won competitions and have even performed at Benaroya Hall in Seattle. I am very active with their education, and provide a full range of music education, including music theory, music history, practical application, as well as the mechanics and functions of the violin. I am a traditional European style educator, and I do not teach the Suzuki method. I do like to use the Suzuki books with beginning students because they have a lot of good pieces for study. All lessons are one hour in length, unless special circumstances require adjustment. I find that even young children can easily handle an hour lesson with no problem. In fact, most of the time, the hour passes and the student feels as though they had just arrived. Time flies when you're having fun!
