Lessons With

David Carson is a Pacific Northwest local, who has been singing his entire life. “I grew up in a musical family, and decided it was something I wanted to pursue.” David is a graduate of the New York Vocal Coaching Teacher Training and Certification. He also earned a music scholarship at Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) and studied vocal performance, music theory, and ear training. He previously studied voice with Dr. James Brown, Dr. Glenn Guhr, and Susan Trainer.

While David was studying at PLU College of Music and Performing Arts, he was a member of University Chorale, Choir of the West, PLU Opera, and Opera scenes. He toured with Choir of the West in Europe, where they competed in the Anton Bruckner Choral Festival in Linz, Austria, and won the mixed choir and sacred music categories. The choirs performed annually at Benaroya Hall and Schnitzer Hall. He was in A Midsummer Night's Dream opera by Benjamin Britten, Alcina by Handel, and sang works from Baby Doe, Sweeney Todd, and Little Women. He also performed with jazz combos at PLU, and has performed with other combos professionally.

During his secondary education he participated in the audition choirs All-Northwest Mixed and All-State Mixed, respectively. He was a member of Wind Ensemble, Jazz Vocal Ensemble, Jazz Instrumental Ensemble, and Concert Choir. He competed in vocal and instrumental Solo and Ensemble, festivals, and performed regularly. He won the award for Outstanding soloist at the Bellevue Pacific Jazz Festival where he sang alongside the Bellevue College music faculty rhythm section.

David is a recording artist at Dogfish Bay Studios, and is currently working with the artist development program and record label IRize International.

He teaches voice to all ages. Lessons will be slightly different for each student depending on their musical goals. He teaches technique for Pop, R&B, Jazz, Musical Theatre, and Classical.

He hopes to invigorate his students’ passion for music and that their artistic growth will allow them to flourish throughout their lives’ endeavors.
