About David

David Carson is a Pacific Northwest local, who has been singing his entire life. “I grew up in a musical family, and decided it was something I wanted to pursue.” David earned a music scholarship at Pacific Lutheran University and studied vocal performance and general music.

David studied voice for 6 years with Dr. James Brown, Dr. Glenn Guhr, and Susan Trainer. He sang numerous roles: Tom Snout in Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, was the understudy for Oronte in Handel’s Alcina, and sang the role Laurie in Little Women for opera scenes to name several. He was a member of the University Chorale and Choir of the West. He toured with Choir of the West in Europe, where they competed in the Anton Bruckner Choral Festival in Linz, Austria, and won the mixed choir and sacred music categories. He had many solo opportunities during PLU Christmas Concerts and other concerts throughout the year. He also performed with jazz combos at Pacific Lutheran University, and has performed with other combos professionally. He recently sang with the Bremerton Symphony Chorale.

David sang in concert choir, jazz choir, played in wind ensemble, and in jazz band throughout high school. He sang with the audition choirs All-Northwest and All-State Mixed choirs, respectively. He competed in Instrumental and Vocal Solo and Ensemble. His high school jazz choir recorded in Index, WA, alongside a professional rhythm section. He competed in The Pacific Jazz Festival at Bellevue College, where he won an award for outstanding soloist.

David continues to study voice with New York Vocal Coaching in their Voice Teacher Training program under the direction of Justin Stoney, with guest speaker, laryngologist Dr. Michael Pitman. He is a recording artist at Dogfish Bay Studios, and is currently working with the artist development program and record label IRize International. “In every field you are constantly studying to refresh your knowledge, and innovate the way you work. Music is no different.”

David is offering to teach voice to ages 10+. Lessons will be slightly different for each student depending on their voice type, and their musical goals. Every student will learn a basis for the theory applicable to being a professional musician, based on what knowledge they already have. Students will learn singing technique that can be applied to multiple genres.

David hopes to invigorate his students’ passion for music and hopes their artistic growth will allow them to flourish throughout their lives’ endeavors.
