Katie San Diego grew up in Kennewick, graduating from Kamiakin High School. At age five, she began learning piano, and later studied viola and harp. Her passion for music blossomed in high school, where she focused her studies on harp, participating in several state solo competitions. She attended college at Brigham Young University, where she majored in music education with a string emphasis and studied the viola as her primary instrument. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music in December 2020. In pursuit of her education, she has traveled around the country attending workshops and festivals, studying with top teachers and performers. She has gained experience teaching children and adults of many different skill levels, both individually and in a classroom setting. She currently lives in Kennewick with her husband, Michael, and her dog, Madi. When she’s not practicing or teaching, she enjoys reading, hiking, and yoga.
