Jack (he/him) brings 15 years’ experience on both the piano and guitar to his teaching practice. Growing up with a passion for Blues and Rock n’ Roll, Jack honed his skills through private tutoring and playing in bands. His musical journey expanded to include Jazz when he picked up the trombone at the age of 14. After years of hard work he became first trombone in The Rivers School Big Band where he competed nationally. Jack’s interest in Jazz brought about his love for improvisation in all genres of music.
Jack is currently lead guitarist and vocalist in the Seattle band Lab Rat, playing a variety of genres from Pop to Punk to Jazz. He also produces and DJs electronic music under the pseudonym Splitpea.
Jack earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Biochemistry from Tufts University, and draws inspiration from the likes of Pink Floyd, Tool, and Miles Davis. These influences have sparked a desire in him to create expansive and immersive musical experiences. Jack emphasizes creativity and expression in his teaching.
