Private lessons with Jamie Rottle

A native of Auburn, Washington, Jamie Rottle made her solo debut at age 20 performing Paule Maurice’s Tableaux de Provence with the Pacific Lutheran University Symphony Orchestra in 2006. The following year, she appeared as an orchestral saxophonist with the Olympia Symphony Orchestra, the Tacoma Youth Symphony, and the Tacoma Young Artist Orchestra. Continuing her success as a soloist, Ms. Rottle advanced to the National level of the Music Teacher’s National Association – Young Artist Competition in 2007. She is also a prize‐winner of the 2008 Don Bushell Concerto Competition and the 2008 Beatrice Herman Recital Competition. Ms. Rottle also participated in prestigious competitions such as the 2010 Schubert Club Competition in Minneapolis, MN, the 2010 Biennial North American Saxophone Alliance Soloist Competition in Athens, GA, and the 5th Concours International Adolphe Sax in Dinant, Belgium.

A devout chamber musician, Ms. Rottle was a founding member of the University of Minnesota Saxophone Quartet. In 2009, the quartet premiered Eclats d’azur for Saxophone Quartet and Wind Ensemble by Roger Boutry. In 2010, the quartet advanced as a semifinalists in the prestigious Fischoff National Chamber Music Association’s Chamber Music Competition. In 2011, Ms. Rottle joined the award‐winning Puget Sound Saxophone Quartet. In 2012 The Puget Sound Saxophone Quartet were prizewinners at the MTNA National Chamber Music Competition in NYC, NY and were inaugural winners of the Lady’s Musical Club Chamber Music Competition in Seattle, WA.

In addition to her career as a soloist and chamber musician, Ms. Rottle is a passionate advocate for music education. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Pacific Lutheran University, and taught public school in the Auburn, Puyallup, and Clover Park School Districts. Ms. Rottle is a current member in the Washington Music Educator’s Association, Mu Phi Epsilon, and the North American Saxophone Alliance. An active learner herself, Ms. Rottle has attended numerous Music Educator’s National Conferences in Washington and Minnesota and attended the 2007 Classical Saxophone Institute at the New York Summer Music Festival in Oneonta, NY. She graduated from the 21st Université Européenne de Saxophone in Gap, France in 2010, studying with renowned artists and teachers such as Arno Bornkamp, Claude Delangle, and Vincent David.

Ms. Rottle is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University, and earned a degree in Music Education, graduating with cum laude honors. While at PLU, she was the recipient of the Mary Baker Russell Music Scholarship, the most prestigious music scholarship given at the institution. After attending PLU, Ms. Rottle went on to pursue a Master of Music degree at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities as a Block Grant recipient, graduating in 2011. Outside of music and education, Ms. Rottle enjoys practicing yoga and spending time with friends and family. Her main teachers have included Mr. Fred Winkler, Dr. Robert Miller, and Dr. Eugene Rousseau.
