Jazz Improvisation Camps

Have you ever wondered what goes through the heads of jazz musicians while they are playing? How do they play so many notes without looking at music? If you’re thinking that would all be way too much to memorize, there’s good news, you don’t have to!

Jazz Improvisation Camps

Jazz musicians are masters of improvisation which allows them to make up melodies right on the spot. You can think about improvising in music the same way you tell stories to your friends. You put words together that describe the situation, and speak softer, louder, faster or slower to get your point across. Each word is just a set of letters in a predetermined order, and by changing the order, we get different words. Music works in exactly the same way which is why it is often described as a language.

When you play songs from written notes you are reciting someone else’s story, but if you would like to learn how to tell your own, one of these Jazz Improvisation Camps is exactly what you need.

There are two camps to choose from, one for beginners with little to no experience, and one for intermediate to advanced players. It doesn’t matter if you don’t play a “jazz instrument,” every musician can and should learn to speak for themselves.
