Megumi is the owner of Puget Sound Music Therapy (PSMT) and offers music therapy services for all ages and abilities in the South Sound area. She launched PSMT in the summer of 2013 after a series of music therapy successes in northern Colorado.
She serves a wide range of populations, from people with neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s, Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI), depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and demetia/Alzheimers to children with special needs due to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy or other developmental disabilities.
Through music, Megumi strongly believes that everyone can reach their full potential regardless of age and ability. Her music therapy approach is client/family-centered, customized to each individual’s needs, and uses evidence-based music therapy interventions.
Megumi holds a Master of Music in music therapy from Colorado State University and Bachelor of Music in saxophone performance from the University of Washington. She is a member of American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and Music Therapy Association of Washington (MTAW). She actively presents her music therapy expertise and clinical research at local, regional, and national level.
